A Call To Black Men & Boys

BLACK MEN AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.

Domestic violence is not just a women's issue. It is a community issue, a family issue, and a men's issue. We exist to challenge silence, confront violence, support healing, demand accountability, and mobilize Black men to be part of the solution.

Mission

EDUCATE. MOBILIZE. EMPOWER.

To educate, mobilize, and empower Black men and boys to actively prevent domestic violence, protect Black women and girls, and create healthier relationships and safer communities.

COURAGEOUS CONVERSATIONS

The Crisis

WHY THIS CONVERSATION MATTERS.

Domestic violence, intimate partner homicide, and murder-suicide continue to impact Black families and communities at alarming rates.

41%

of Black women experience physical violence from an intimate partner in their lifetime.

30%

of female intimate partner homicide victims in the U.S. are Black women.

98.5%

of intimate partner homicides are committed by male perpetrators.

66.6%

of intimate partner homicides involve a firearm.

MURDER-SUICIDE

National research consistently shows that the overwhelming majority of murder-suicide perpetrators are male. Many incidents are directly connected to domestic violence, relationship breakdown, and coercive control.

GENERATIONAL TRAUMA

Children exposed to domestic violence face increased risk of depression, anxiety, PTSD, behavioral problems, school difficulties, and future relationship violence. Whole family systems carry the grief, instability, and emotional disconnection that follows.

Breaking The Silence

DOMESTIC
VIOLENCE OFTEN REMAINS HIDDEN.

In Black communities, real barriers stand between families and the help they need. Silence protects no one. Naming these barriers is the first step to breaking them.

01

Shame

02

Fear of public exposure

03

Distrust of systems

04

“Keep family business private”

05

Religious stigma

06

Fear of criminalization of Black men

07

Lack of culturally responsive resources

08

Emotional suppression & unhealthy beliefs about masculinity

These barriers prevent families from seeking help until situations escalate into severe violence, homicide, or suicide. We will not wait.
